First public release
New- Every screen of wp-admin redesigned for dark and light: the dashboard, lists, media, plugins, themes, settings, menus, the Customizer, Tools, Site Health, the login and the error pages.
- Your client’s brand: the site icon for dark and light with a contrast check, Match your site, a branded login and no WordPress footer text.
- Matched styles for WooCommerce, Elementor, ACF, Yoast SEO and WPForms, light islands for app-like plugin screens, and a readability guard for the rest.
- The ⌘K palette, instant navigation, quick edit with Undo, and profile pictures wherever a person appears.
- A login address of your choice, with your site’s “page not found” at the old one.
- Settings → Plinth with search, a save bar, and export and import to set up the next site the same way.
- The sign-in pages and Settings → Plinth in French, Dutch and German.
- Comments on, hidden or off per content type, a notice tray for plugin notices, and Arrange menu.
- Deleting Plinth removes its settings and the data it stored.
Before 1.0
Plinth was built in 43 test releases between September and October 2026, each one tried on test sites with real plugins. Here they all are.
0.3
27 releases · 4 to 19 October 2026Hidden plugins stay hidden
Fixes- Plugins a site hides from its Plugins screen stay hidden in Plinth’s plugin list, search and counts too.
Release notes inside WordPress
NewChangedFixes- “View details” and “What’s new” for Plinth open its release notes inside WordPress.
- Dashboard › Updates lists a Plinth update that needs a licence key.
- Plinth can talk to the Plinth store’s licence server. It stays hidden until the store opens.
- After a site’s address changes, updates wait until you confirm which site this is in Licence.
- On phones, the licence card’s buttons and plan rows fit without squeezing the text.
Groundwork for licence keys
NewFixes- The groundwork for licence keys. It stays hidden until the Plinth store opens, and Plinth works the same with or without a key.
- The update list on the Plugins screen is in French, Dutch and German, and “Leave without saving?” reads correctly for a single change.
- Long section summaries in the settings sidebar wrap instead of being cut off, and English search words still find settings on a translated admin.
Settings → Plinth in French, Dutch and German
NewChangedFixes- Settings → Plinth is fully in French, Dutch and German.
- A shorter description on the Plugins screen.
- On phones, screen readers no longer announce a section as current while the list of settings shows.
A safer login address
FixesNew- With a custom login address, guessing /login, /admin or /dashboard no longer leads visitors to it, and neither does a made-up password reset link.
- The “page not found” at the old address is never kept by browsers or caches, so turning the custom address off works straight away.
- What’s new opens right inside Settings → Plinth.
- French, Dutch and German for the login address card and its emails, and for counts like “3 comments”.
Settings → Plinth, rethought
ChangedNew- Settings → Plinth shows one section at a time, with a sidebar that sums up each section. Everything about the sign-in page is in one place.
- A save bar appears as soon as you change something, with Discard and Save (⌘S or Ctrl+S), and the page asks before you leave with unsaved changes.
- Search the settings, and export or import them to set up another site the same way.
- Brand background on the sign-in page works on every site, tinted with your accent colour.
Login address
New- Login address, off until you turn it on: move the sign-in page to an address you choose, such as /team-access. Visitors who aren’t signed in then get your site’s “page not found” at wp-login.php and wp-admin.
- The address is checked as you type, and every administrator gets an email when it changes.
- Locked out? One line in wp-config.php turns it off again.
- If another plugin already moves your login, Plinth leaves it alone.
The account button
FixesNew- Your photo in the top bar is a small circle again, with the menu arrow beside it. The account button gets an outline on hover and while its menu is open.
- After an upload, the Help tab from the previous screen no longer stays.
- French, Dutch and German for the log-out page, the “Finishing up…” card and the notes about profile pictures.
No flash of WordPress’s upload page
FixesChanged- After Install or Replace on Upload plugin, WordPress’s “Unpacking the package…” page no longer shows before Plinth’s. Opened directly, the page shows a “Finishing up…” card until it’s ready.
- The “Log out?” page, when you’re already signed out, says so and offers Sign in.
Upload review without the wait
Fixes- Uploading a plugin that’s already installed shows the comparison card and its buttons straight away, even while WordPress updates translations on the same page.
Profile pictures
NewFixesChanged- Profile pictures show wherever Plinth shows a person: the account menu, the front-end bar, Your profile, Users, Dashboard activity, Comments, authors, revisions and the editor’s lock dialog. From Gravatar or an avatar plugin, with initials when there’s no picture and none when Show Avatars is off.
- Log out in the top bar and the ⌘K palette works in one click. WordPress’s “Do you really want to log out?” page, when you do reach it, matches the rest of Plinth.
- The site icon on the sign-in page follows the top bar setting; the sign-in setting now only tints the background.
- In languages Plinth isn’t translated into, the sign-in page no longer shows its one English sentence.
The sign-in pages in your visitor’s language
NewFixes- The sign-in pages speak the visitor’s language. Plinth ships French, Dutch and German; in other languages, words WordPress already translates come from WordPress.
- On short phones the sign-in card no longer starts above the top of the screen, and the language switcher is one compact row.
- Upload plugin: an older file gets an “Older” chip, the file row fits phones, and a file that isn’t a .zip shows its real type.
Versions compared before you upload
Fixes- Upload plugin compares the version you have with the file you picked, as the Plugins screen does. Replacing a plugin reads “Continue to review”, and an older file is called older.
- Elementor’s Templates list scrolls inside its own box at every desktop width, and its shortcodes stay on one line.
- Plugin panels that load late get readable text straight away in dark mode.
Plugin uploads that show their progress
Fixes- Uploading a plugin .zip shows its real progress and asks before you leave mid-upload.
- Reinstalling the same version says “Reinstalling” and “reinstalled”, not “updated”.
- Dropping a .zip on the Plugins screen says plainly which version you already have.
- The update card no longer offers Update for a plugin whose download isn’t available, such as one with an expired licence. It’s marked “Manual update” instead.
Readability fixes
Fixes- The welcome title on Elementor Home and one.com’s notice text are readable.
- Elementor’s Templates list fits laptop screens again.
- Simple History’s logo shows in dark mode, and row links read in dark mode.
- Every menu name uses Plinth’s typeface, and “Needed by” and long author names fit on phones.
Plugin screens on phones and tablets
Fixes- On phones and tablets, plugin images keep their own sizes again: Code Snippets’ logo, the Media grid and one.com’s cards.
- Elementor’s Templates list keeps room for columns other plugins add, and the welcome title on Elementor Home is readable.
- Menu items without a name get one, long menu names wrap in the phone menu, and “Needed by” shows a count when several plugins need one.
- Wide plugin tables scroll inside themselves on phones, and one.com’s screens, plugin logos in notices and Trash links read in dark mode.
Notices that arrive late
Fixes- Notices a plugin reveals after the page loads now land in the notice tray.
- Wordfence’s status banner reads in dark mode, even when Wordfence draws it a few seconds late.
- Elementor’s notices on its own screens sit under the page header, and its Opt in button is readable.
- ACF’s toolbar tabs and Simple History’s buttons read in dark mode.
- Theme notices, like “This theme recommends…”, go to the tray under the theme’s name.
- Smash Balloon’s menu badges look like counts, and green chips pass contrast in light mode.
Back to Inter
ChangedFixes- Inter is back as Plinth’s typeface, from one preloaded file, printed once per page.
- The Brand card offers the Elementor kit’s headings font whenever it isn’t Inter.
- The notice tray no longer empties itself on Users, Comments and Add themes.
- On phones, the active theme’s details sit under its screenshot, Updates stacks cleanly and the Customizer’s status fits.
- The phone menu’s current item keeps its colour while focused.
Poppins, for one release
Changed- Plinth switched to Poppins, bundled with the plugin under its own family name so a site’s copy never stands in for it. Reverted in 0.3.9.
- One font helper now serves the admin, the login, the front-end bar, error pages, the Customizer and the media picker.
- Count columns align right and chips keep their height.
Update card
NewFixes- One update card on Plugins and Themes: what’s ready, Security fix and New features tags, Update all, and live progress, one item at a time.
- Themes with an update get a ribbon and an Update button, and Appearance shows the theme update count.
- On phones, submenus open inline, so a sub-item opens on the first tap.
- The branded login keeps its dot grid, tinted with the site’s colour.
Phone fixes
Fixes- The Elementor kit’s headings font now applies in the admin and on the login.
- Match your site, the dashboard tiles, enquiries and the front-end bar fit on phones.
- Settings → Plinth shows its preview after the cards on phones.
- Wordfence and ACF colours, WooCommerce settings on phones, and eleven smaller fixes.
One save notice
Fixes- Settings → Plinth no longer shows “Settings saved.” twice.
Brand card
NewFixes- One Brand card: the site name, and the site icon for dark and light with a contrast check and a white tile when an icon would disappear.
- The icon shows in the top bar, the login, the front-end bar and error pages. Headings can use the Elementor kit’s font.
- The login follows each person’s dark or light choice, the session-expired sign-in included.
- No WordPress footer text, and tab titles without “— WordPress”.
- 16 px inputs on phones, so iPhones don’t zoom in, plus WooCommerce, ACF, Elementor and Wordfence fixes.
No flash of the stock layout
Fixes- Re-laid-out screens, from Users and Plugins to Menus, Media and the post lists, stay hidden until they’re ready, then fade in.
Plugin rows and settings screens
Fixes- Plugin update notices no longer show as a tall, narrow strip.
- Notes plugins add under their own row are one tidy line, tinted by kind.
- Settings screens no longer flash WordPress’s layout first.
- Fixed-width plugin notices no longer make screens scroll sideways.
Safer comments, clean uninstall
NewFixes- Deleting Plinth now removes its settings and the data it stored. Content is never touched.
- “Delete all comments” and hidden comments only cover real comments, never WooCommerce order notes or other plugins’ rows.
- Only public content types are offered under Comments, and hidden comments stay hidden in the REST API, feeds and widgets.
- Prefetch only loads links that change what’s shown.
- Code editor colours pass contrast in both modes, plus phone and multisite fixes.
Navigation, comments and one media picker
New- One media picker for logos, galleries, files and the site-icon crop, with live previews.
- Comments on, hidden in the admin, or really off per content type, with a careful clean-up tool.
- Instant navigation: the next screen loads as you point, the sidebar and top bar hold still, and lists keep their place.
- Ticked checkboxes and radios are visible in light mode.

15 releases · 2 to 4 October 2026Site Health everywhere
Fixes- The Site Health score shows on the Dashboard and Tools home.
- Tools home counts match Export, and file editor breadcrumbs follow their menu.
Tools
New- A Tools home with cards for Import, Export, Site Health, Personal data, the file editors and tools from your plugins.
- Export with live counts, Personal data with a request pipeline, and an importer that reads the file before it runs.
- File editors with a file tree, a live-site banner and save checks. The last version of each file is kept.
Upload and delete plugins
New- Delete from the Plugins list, with an inline confirm that says what goes and what stays.
- Plugins that others need are locked, and a selection bar handles bulk actions.
- Drop a plugin .zip anywhere on the Plugins screen.
- Add plugins has “Browse by tag” chips instead of a white tag cloud.
Upload fixes
Fixes- Uploading a new version of an installed plugin stays on Review, and the checklist says what really happens.
Upload plugin link
New- Plugins → Upload plugin opens the upload stepper straight from the sidebar.
Builders and contrast
Fixes- The front-end bar stays out of Elementor, Beaver Builder, Divi, Bricks, Oxygen, Brizy, Visual Composer, Thrive and Customizer previews.
- Text on the accent colour follows contrast everywhere.
- Elementor 4’s templates screen is a light island, plus ACF, WPForms and media picker fixes.
Every screen, finished
NewChanged- A theme details side sheet with previews, style variations and a “What changes” check before you switch.
- The ⌘K palette, a New menu, notifications, and an account menu with Dark, Light and System.
- Quick edit with a trash confirm and Undo, and a featured-image picker.
- Error pages that say what to do, and a lost-password flow on the login.
- Lists keep only their own tabs and columns; filters bring plugin columns back. Plugin upsells on core screens are hidden.
Core WordPress, rethought
New- An Upload plugin stepper with a version comparison.
- Settings screens with a section nav, sample permalinks and a floating save bar.
- Categories, Revisions, Menus, the Customizer and Insert media in Elementor, redesigned.
- Editor interruptions: session expired, post locked, browser backup and connection lost.
Brochure dashboard fixes
Fixes- Dashboard tiles, enquiry buttons in dark mode, the grouped Pages list, Wordfence colours, Arrange menu and the front-end bar’s buttons.
Arrange menu fix
Fixes- Moved pages stay highlighted under their new parent.
Brochure sites and your client’s brand
New- A dashboard for sites without a blog: enquiries, pages, security and updates.
- Pages grouped by purpose, with “In menus” chips.
- Arrange menu: drag the order, choose what each role sees, and move plugin menus to suggested homes.
- Match your site: accent colours from the Elementor kit, the logo in the top bar and a branded login.
- Wordfence and Imunify support, and a front-end bar or floating pill for editors.
Themes fixes
Fixes- Core’s buttons on Themes keep their own layout, and Themes labels match the design.

- Matched styles for WooCommerce, ACF, Yoast SEO, Elementor and WPForms, light islands, and a readability guard for other plugins.
